Yeah like others have said.. There is good hunting all over the Dewatto area.  You just need to hike in a ways and get away from the roads and other hunters.  Find a gate that doesn't have 4 rigs parked at it and go for it.

Well i just got back from a hunt that i thought was going to be bad. But it turned out to be good i missed a nice 3x3 or 2x2 o was not able to see for sure. But this was off ends trail on a Orange gate i don't know if i was able to be their so i wanted to find out again. What color gates mean what. it was orange with some yellow on it. i think i will go out that way again in tell i get told not to. their is no sign telling me no trust passing. Any one have any other places i should look into on Mason county?    :twocents: :dunno: :dunno: :) :) :)

Thank you for your service in the Navy and no offense but I honestly hope you are not the one writing the Nuclear manuals that operate our ships.   :chuckle:

DNR are also fair game in that area. If you only found one rig at a gate your doing good I usually see 3 or 4.

I own property up the hill a little from where you are on sandhill closer to dewatto at a place called maggie lake.  There is a suprising amount of deer up there if you get away from the roads.  My family spends almost every weekend riding the DNR land behind our place in the summer, and we almost always see deer in the mornings.  Havent hunted it much myself, but we will be up there for the late hunt as my daughter is the only one in the family that didnt fill her tag this last weekend east of the mountains.  Just do as others have suggested, and check the wdfw map program to make sure you are not on any private land most of the deer we see are well in behind the gates up there so dont be afraid to put some miles on your boots.
