Passed on a Two Point

i called in sick today just to go hunting. Made a two hour hunt in the pouring rain and saw nothing. Jumped back in the truck and started driving around and saw a two point. He was about forty yards and I decided to pass on him. i watched him bed down so i know where he is at. After my son gets out of school I'm going to ask him if we should go back and get the two point or wait for a bigger buck. I also have a multi-season permit. What would you do? I already have a black tail that scored a 135.

My son can't shoot it. i just want him to be with me when or if I do. If it was a monster, I would have shot it without him. But since it's a two point and who knows it might be gone when we go back. The 135 black tail was shot a few years ago so I still have my tag. Just to clarify my situation.

Yup, you still have a lot of time, I'd hold off, unless you know there arent many more like him out in your area

 I have the multi-season as well, but have not been able to hunt much at all. The 135 buck is a great buck, but you can't eat antler's so it really depends on your goals. A two point is a good blacktail in most units.

there are some giant two point blacktails that i wouldnt think twice about shooting but then again there are some tiny ones... kinda hard without seeing it

All four tines are about four inches tall and it's spread is around 10 inches. It looked like 2nd year buck. My son will be home soon so I'll see. My wife says no it's not worth the money I paid for the permit.

If you need the meat, shoot it. If you dont need it wait till you see a bigger one. Good luck to you.

Thanks for all the input guys. We decided to leave him alone and let him grow bigger. My son and I are going back out Sat. and Sun looking for a mature buck. Good luck to all. We still have late rifle and late archery too.
