when calling coyotes should i keep blowing the call or stop every now and than and if so how long?

Depends where you're at, Chris. Over here in the thick, and where Coyotes are used to people - - and avoiding people - - it's probably best to give a short sequence, maybe 30 sec, then sit tight and still and watch and listen. Wait several minutes before doing it again. (5 or 6 min) Sound as real as possible. Give them as little chance as possible to pick you out.

Out in the open on the dry side of the mountains where you can see a long ways, do your first sequence easy and short, but then on the second one lay into it, long and loud! Crazy desperate, 'til you run out of breath. Wait awhile then do it again.

It depends on how well you can see, and how used to people the Coyotes you're calling are.

Thanks Jay, but there are loads of callers better than I am. Rainshadow gives good advice. 
In the woods I like to call quietly for a little while, but that also requires getting into your stand very quietly, sit a bit before calling. Once I tried a quiet series before I gave up I'd do a few sounds real qggressivly, loudly, then wait a bit.

In the more open areas I still like to start quietly, you must be very aware of the lay of the land and where you can be seen from use the low spots to get into your stand. You will never find a stand that you can see 'everything' you want. Make sure you can shoot well from what ever position you are in, without excessive movement. Hiding good if you cant shoot does not work nor does getting into a good shooting position that is not hidden. III

After 10-15 minutes quiet calling, I might try louder or throw in a non agressive howl (fairly loud) to sort of announce my (a coyotes) presence. then go into some pup or young coyote sounds. Also in the open I like to look around real carefully before I start calling, with Binocs.

When you call a place, after you are done dont be afraid to look around, scout, see if there is a better way to approach or set up. Write it down and next time try to improve you approach to that stand. If you call a spot that 'look like yotes' but get nothing, scout for sign, if you cant find any, dont bother calling there until you do find sign. If the yotes are called alot or bust you try to find a different way to approach and call.

The only thing I would add to the advice above is that you can usually locate coyotes the evening before you hunt by using a siren, howl, or yips.  Take note of where you heard the coyotes answers, and get to that area in the morning.  Pay attention to the wind.  I like to be able to see my downwind side, and be able to manuever to a shooting position in that direction with minimal movement.
