He wobbled? Congratulations! I think you just got yourself a nice buck! Now you just have to go find him in the morning. I bet he didn't go far.

Be sure and check up underneath any big blowdowns, brush piles, viney patches, etc.   If possible and able, they will burrow into some of the tightest places they can find...Good Luck!

Well off to look some more.I got all day so i should be able to do a good search.I dreamed that i found him .I pretty sure the bullet passed all the way threw. The blood was pretty dark in color does this usually mean that i may have hit it back to far.

Any green crap in the blood?  If not, maybe a liver shot.  It'll bleed out pretty quickly if you hit the liver most of the time.  Don't give up hope - I think that you have a pretty good chance of finding it - especially if it wobbled.  I have seen them wobble, kind of recover and run 100 to 200 yards so it might be a little distance but it's probably down somewhere.

Good luck, I too feel you will find him! Any water near by? Look there. I am sure you will find him. You know, my buck had a hole threw his heart, one less functioning lung and a broken shoulder and he still ran near 100 yards this year. They are tough animals. Stay positive and keep your eyes open and don't under estimate your NOSE! I found my uncles buck one rainy day in CRP grass cause I got a smell of entrails down wind and my nose led me right to the deer!
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Hope you find him.  Start walking in ever-widening circles around the last place you saw sign/blood until you find more blood or your buck; don't give up!  Good luck.

If you didn't bump him from his first bed, then you should find him there based on how he reacted to the shot.  If you bumped him from his first bed, it will be very difficult.  Animals that know they are being pursued will make it difficult to follow.

As already stated great advice - look under brush, vine maples, under fir boughs, reprod, etc.

Good luck.  Call me if you need help 360-870-7264.  Not sure I can break away from work, but if you come up empty, call me.

deer will die and blend into the terrain being difficult to find even when they die very close to where they were shot.  Good luck,  I am sure he didn't go too far at all.

I shot a fork up near mineral years ago and backed off to let him expire, marking the spot in the cut with some extra orange I had. I returned up the hill about 20 minutes later and the buck was not where he fell, I knew he couldn't have gone far has he was hit hard twice, but am always worried about an unexpired hidden deer jumping up and having a go. I very carefully circled out, finally catching a glimpse of his front hooves under some 3' tall ferns. He had flattened out completely under these 3' ferns and you could literally walk by at 6-8' and not see him at all. I don't think you would have even seen him from the ridge above, it's amazing how they can disappear.

Bring someone with you if you can to, its always better to have a couple set of eyes, its always good to have the non shooter look as the person who's animal it is tends to miss alot cause there under stress and what have you.. It can get exausting being the only set of eye's tracking blood!.. Good luck guy!
