Was out today after my blacktail (trip to Medford fell through... oh well things happen) this morning and grabbed some antlers for rattling. Hit up a thicker area I've seen deer in before, don't hear or see anything a while after daylight so figure why not. Grab the antlers and start quietly, wait about ten minutes. Grab them again being louder and more aggressive... after about five minutes here he came: another hunter

. Heard me rattling and came in looking for the deer.
We talked for a couple minutes and BOOM! Huh? Sounded like a muzzleloader that went off. Boom! Little quick for a follow up if it is black powder. He's wondering if it is his buddy up the hill and we talk for another minute. Boom! Must be a finishing shot. Boom! WTF is going on? Finally goes quiet for a few minutes. Get back to talking about what we've seen - or haven't seen. Boom! I have no idea what this person is doing. Doesn't sound too far off, but certainly up above us. Boom! Seriously? Boom! Seven shots spread out over three or four minutes, all sounded like the same gun. Think I knew where he was shooting from and that spot can offer a long poke with steep downhill angles. Who ever he is, please learn how to shoot prior to hunting season. He tried calling his buddy on the radio, but didn't come in and probably wasn't him doing the shooting.
Having a hard time finding any deer, but at least I can rattle in people
