Well Boy's and Girl's after a few year's of reading this great forum I finally get to Post a Successful Hunt ..
I will start off by saying I have been chasing blacktails for year's and took 8 or 9 years off to pursue the waters of local rivers .
I got bit again by the buck fever a few season ago and spent every weekend of the seasons in the woods trying to track down one of these sneaky bucks. Had come across a few spikes over the last few years but passed.
So I start off this season by missing the opener and didn't get out for the first time until this past Saturday.
The morning started off by me sleeping in a bit late so I arrived at my spot I wanted to hit first thing late and with a few other guys already there I headed not far down the road to a different spot that I would have to spend walking the timber.
I spent all morning walking the timber and busting brush. When around 11am Or I decided to take a break and have a snack.
Turns out I didn't bring anything to eat

So At this point I was soaked and hungry and Decided to head back to the truck. Long story short I walked around in circles for around 2 hours.. I kept coming back to the same spot over and over. I was lost in the woods but I knew I wasn't too far from my truck , At one point I looked at my phone for the time and it read it was 4pm and the date to be Dec,31 1969. I felt like I was in the twilight zone

Not long after I finally found a Landmark that clicked and found my way out...
Back to the truck for a dry set of clothes , I drive up a road a bit and come across a deer in the timber , I get out to take a closer look and it turned out to be a doe and two fawns. So I say what the hell I will head for home eat some lunch and maybe head out for an evening hunt. Heading back down the road I spot some movement to my left ...
As soon as I stop I see a buck lift his head and 3 deer just book it in 3 different directions .
Knowing one was a buck I jumped out and ran as fast As I could in the general direction.. I went through a small patch of timber into a clear cut .. I walked the edge for a few minutes before I spotted a deer, At this point I didnt know if it was a doe or the buck I had seen , I Circled down below him trying to cut it off.. After about a 150 yard half loop I look up and see Head and Horns

I pull up the tikka .270 and take a shot at 125 yards and boom, I miss WTH But luck was with me as he didn't move a step.
This time I took a deep breath and put the hammer down and He went about 20 yards before he piled up....
I couldn't believe it... I actually Found the gray ghost and put him down
I know He doesn't have the biggest rack but it's a true trophy to me...
Enjoy the Pic's
This was where he was standing , with his head in doe's rear
