My Dad saw one in the Twisp river area. Have heard of them being around but never seen one myself.

Last year while hunting area 15 in ID, we were doing one of our usual hunts when we began running into multiple sets of wolf tracks in the snow.  Every time we found any deer sign there would be fresher wolf tracks on top of it.  On our way hiking out we noticed something very large and black in the road in front of us.  At first I thought it was a bear but upon further inspection it was a wolf.  Once it noticed us it slowly walked up the hill then stopped and just looked at us for several min at about 80 yds.  Eventually it turned and headed into the timber.  We walked up to where it was in the road and found that the tracks were following ours up the road.  As we continued back towards the truck we found where 2 other sets of tracks split off the road in opposite directions.  I dont know for sure but it sure seems like they may have been hunting us.  I have to say at this point I was a little creeped out and looked over my shoulder a few times :yike:for the rest of the hike.  Never saw the other two wolves but I have to assume once the relized what the were tracking the went on thier way.  Im going back over there in 2 weeks and you better believe I will be on the lookout.

Agreed BIGINNER, My question is how does one find out if they where released in the area? Or will they just say its part of some other pack?

Unfortunately you saying you saw wolves is not the type of proof that WDFW will use to confirm wolves in the area.  I don't mean that as an insult.  You need to give your information to WDFW and probably to the person I linked to earlier so that there can be confirmation.

As said before there has been reports of wolves in the Teanaway for years.

I'll probably think twice before taking another mid morning nap while hunting in the Methow!

If anything is putting myself and my hunting partners endanger I am going to do everything I can to protect us. If that means having to shoot a wolf so be it. I don't care if its not legal or politically correct, my own safety or the safety of my loved ones isn't more important than a damn wolf being able to eat more deer and elk calves and being able to breed.

saw one in the alladin unit almost 10 years ago. it was night time and we were coming back from taking showers in town (weekly event whether we need it or not) and it crossed the road in front of the truck and continued up the hill. it paused about 30-40 yds up and we got a pretty good look. like someone already mentioned, i was absolutely shocked at how big they are. before seeing one, i felt like i might mistake them for coyote but NO WAY. i was with two other guys and we instantly knew what we were looking at.
