Idaho Buck 2010
« on: October 29, 2010, 11:04:28 PM »
Well my buddy and his son and I have hunted together for years, I use to live in Idaho and he would come out and we would go bow hunt elk. One year we drew and took a 330 and a 320 bull in the same day. Well this year I broke my pelvis in Feb and have had 2 surgeries with the last one on 17th of June so that put me out of the Sept bow hunt for elk. I finally could not handle it any longer and I managed to muster the strength to go rifle hunting for deer. I have not done that in a number of years and I hunted a spot that I seldom see others. A friend took a small 5x5 on opening day there and a week later I took this 8x8  in the same draw. He scores 185 and some change. It was great weather, good friends and success on top of it. All you guys that hunt I am sure you have realized that its all about the hunt and getting your trophy and the meat is a bonus as it is too costly to say you do it for the meat.
Anyway, you guys looking for deer, eat your heart out and to my friends that have a late buck hunt here in the rainy state of Washington, good luck as I have set the bar for a buck this year. Hopefully I can continue to have success and great time with friends!

Hey, thanks to all the responses. This is my first time on here and yes there are definitely bigger bucks out there, I have shot larger ones myself, but the character and score of this buck is great and I know my friends and wanted to challenge them to go bigger. I wish them well and hope they get bigger then we all will have trophies this year. There are also inside jokes most do not know about, like the nice buck prairie rat my buddy shot last year and I ended up with a doe. That's all folks :chuckle: :chuckle:

Well if you can't post pics at least tell us what magazines and the month it will be in there. Those sound sweet!!!
I know one Doc there that killed a buck with his bow this year and it is going to be among the top 30 ever taken in Idaho.  :archery_smiley:

Actually I have not hunted for bucks here since my move to this state. I really do not have much interest in it here, I have looked at the stats and it looks pretty grim, plus to get a feel of an area takes years. I am 47 with a broken pelvis healing and I spent 25 years in Idaho. Maybe I will start putting in for the prime hunt areas but that takes years to draw. Don't know what to think right now.
