Duck/fish boat up and running
« on: November 01, 2010, 06:34:36 PM »
Well I had kinda given up on duck and goose hunting since I moved to the Skagit Valley because of the taste of the ducks.  Since some ideas on how to make them taste better came from another thread(bum'd some duck off a budy and tried them out soaked in milk and the OJ were my favorites), I decided to get the old duck/goose boat up and running.  My folks are bringing over a couple bags of my deke's and I will once again be causing some steel rain.  The boat took a bit getting it going again as it has been sitting in storage for 4 years but she's cleaned up and purring like a drunkin kitten.

I hope my home brew camo job and the boat will work out on the river etc.

Even found my riggers for next year fishing.

It should work.  I would keep the trolling motor out of the salt water or it will rust quickly.   :twocents:

Thanks, now I need to save up and put a 40 horse on it.  The 25 does ok until I put more than 1 person, dekes etc etc into it, just not enough poop.

H20 yea I heard about the salt and trolling motors.  I set that up as a quick disconect on the troller.  I just flip a lever, unplug the power quick connect and off it comes.  That way when I am working the salt I can take the troller off and leave it at the house.  Take's about 15 seconds to put it on or take it off.  I have 2 deep cycles that sit in the wood box in the front, 1 in a mount on each side of the boat to balance the weight.  I think I should probably pull those when I go to the salt as well.  Lot of weight in those two batteries, might help with the lack of power on the 25 when I load up with deke's and hunters.

Now I have to do some repare work on my blind for the boat.  It did not store as well as the boat did.  Some Tires somehow fell on it and bent the crap out of the pipes.  I am looking it over now but I am afraid I might have to start from scratch again.
