Thats a cool story.  Never taken one that way before.  Wish I could open my pack and have them go on in.

When I was a kid, 9 or 10, I saw a grouse sitting in a tree once and climbed up it nice and slow and grabbed him by the feet, but then I got scared he was gonna get me :yike: and let go of it :bash:  Hey they seem scarier when you're little :'(

Had one fly into my jeep through my open window once while rolling slowly down an old forest road. It got back out before I could figure out what was smacking my face. The bugger then walked along side me for 20-30 yards looking at me like I did something wrong.. :dunno: :chuckle:

2 years ago labor day we went camping and grouse hunting and didn't see 1 grouse. Came home and that evening heard a thump on the front window of our house. I went outside and found a dead grouse on the ground. I brought it inside and yelled "I got me a grouse". Made my wife laugh pretty hard.

I've nabbed several, but always let them go after admiring them, hopefully educating them a bit.

I have a video of my wife petting one on the side of the road this spring.  After that I went over and picked it up and held it.  Threw it up in the air and it flew a big circle and landed at my feet.  I picked it up and pet it and then set it back down.  Did not make the wife sqeamish about shooting any of them though.  I would post the vid if I could figure out how............

Had a wild dog do that to me once, I dropped it with my 357.  Left a nice stain and hole inside my jeep, and my friend still claims he has loss of hearing.

The only Canada goose I have killed got its neck wrung from pecking my boot. Reached down and grabbed it as it was attacking my boot.
