Great week in the Blues!
« on: November 02, 2010, 05:42:57 PM »
:whoo: Got back Monday evening from a 10 day stint in Gods country! My buddy will be posting pictures hopefully tonight of his Touc bull he shot opening Monday night just after a blizzard dropped 8" of snow. Can you imagine getting notice in May, scouting every weekend since Sept 10th, reading every posting and looking at every picture on this site, then having to play poker with 4 men in a camper till almost 2:30 opening day to go hunt for what he has dreamed about for months?  :yike: I couldn't stand it and I didn't even have the tag. Well the storm broke, we set out with a camera man, hiked out to where we had seen a good 6x6 the prior Sat night, we located him again. Climbed, dropped, rolled, slid, slipped, back tracked, sneaked, crawled and slithered are way from about 1000 yards to with in 162 yards of him and his gals plus 3 spikes, a 2x2, and a nice big 5x5, he was able to dump a good 6x7 (upon closer inspection) all on film. Then we returned on Tues with pack boards and crew and packed him down and out.
Wed. he headed for home and me and another buddy headed for spike camp in the Lick. Camp was able to knock down 2 spikes opening day, which I was able to sneak me and my buddy's brother within 60 yards of his first Blues spike and we packed him out to the truck by 3 pm. Then Sunday after an exhausting decent and almost 2pm. I was waiting for my ride back to the top, I heard barking across the canyon and up the hill the opposite of which I had just been. Amazing how out of pure "noodleage" comes forth the energy to seek out cow barks and bulls bugling. I was able to cap a good spike out of a group of 60 some head. 5 of which where bulls, one of which was the biggest and widest I had seen this year. This dude would of been pushing 400, one and 1/2 times as wide as his butt. 8 guys, 4 bulls, 3 of which I took the knife too. Forsure, there are no "more" bulls in the Blues. Pictures?

Good job! I just got off the phone with caretaker and I think he saw the same big bull you talk of! I will let him tell the rest of the story... Good job again on the elk this year! OH yeah you might want to thank the game dept too  :chuckle: :chuckle:
