They make a pretty cool pelt....

I've shot a couple in traps.  The head shot ones sprayed, the chest shot one did not.  Don't know if this would happen all the time.  Still stinky to skin, even if no spray.

Have fun.   :chuckle:

One of my buddies told me that they will always spray when shot. Its in a barn with a lot of furnature so letting him spray is not a option. Any idea's... JAMNG

they will almost always spray. best thing is to try to catch the bugger outside, or in a place that its o.k. to be stinky for awhile :chuckle:

I caught one when I was a kid. Skinned it put the pelt in the freezer. Ruined 1/2 side of beef.  :bdid:Parents were not happy.
I would let your friend deal with it. Quit leaving food out, it will go away.

put the trap by the door tie a rope to it when caught hook said rope to truck or wheeler and hall balls may catch him off guard long enough he wont spray in barn

ROFLOL that is one of the funniest things i have heard in a long time :chuckle: so much for your trap after that ride :chuckle: my luck would be, that the trap would snag on a tree or the barn door and tear my 4-wheeler apart :chuckle:

My brother has caught several in his live trap, he says that they didn't spray. He put them in a large black garbage bag and then closed the bag and sprayed ether in the bag and they went to sleep, permanently.

Should work... My buddy traps them live then accidentally puts them in the stock tank to drown.  Works every time.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

He can get rid of the skunk without it spraying if he uses a Havahart trap with cat food as bait. After it is caught leave the skunk alone until midday, he"ll be tired and less likely to get pissed and spray.  I trapped 11 skunks in one summer under my parents barn. The only one that sprayed was the first one after I had shot it. Lesson learned on my part. After trapping the first few skunks I found that I didn't need to cover the trap in a garbage bag during transport. I gently set the trap in the back of my truck and let them go a couple miles from the house.

I have trapped lots of them in cage traps without getting sprayed, after you catch it just put an old blanket or tarp slowly over the trap then you can take it anywhere you want it will not spray in there i uassaly drowned them right in the cage put the whole then in a pond or tank whatever i had worked great.

My vote is for the wheeler/trap/haul balls. If you do not do this, film it, and then post it promptly I will be forced to hunt you down and trap you in a closet with two live skunks (one in heat). Please please please do this. It is one of the best ideas I have heard in my entire life.

ps. If you don't I really will hunt you down.

I built a feeder for my cats that the skunks, possums and coons can't get in.  The theory behind it is that the vermin can't jump like a cat.  The cats can jump up into it.  Completely eliminated the vermin problem.  Looks like this (my cam must have gotten nudged):

Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
