They are all good, you just have to draw. In the youth category there are only two choices so apply for both of those. You can also apply in the antlerless category and again, apply for both choices. (this category is actually much lower odds of drawing than the any moose category)

In the "Any Moose" category, apply for the units that have the most permits available: Selkirk, 49 Degrees, Mt. Spokane, and then I'd go for either Hangman or Huckleberry, just depends on if you want to hunt on National Forest north of Spokane or private timber land south of Spokane. Hangman is easier to draw due to less applicants.

mt Spokane is worth putting in for. some pretty high success % i hunted with a youth hunter in 09 and he was able to get his cow and a elk in the same day :IBCOOL:

Like Bob said, there's only 2 youth choices. Put in for both of them.

so if i win would it be worth going during elk season or maybey plan half the trip so its before elk opening day. also are all those moose units considered to be the east side? because if i dont get drawn i would be hunting the west side elk . and your not allowed to hunt both sides i here so? what would be worth doin for elk all i wanna do is get one. any legal elk would be fair game. would it be worth it to go back to the west side or is there better chances of getting elk anyway on the east side. its kinda confusing
 thanks

that is correct. unless you have a east side elk tag, or a multi season tag. in which case you can hunt both east and west. you could not hunt elk in the moose areas, with a west side elk tag. you can hunt with diffrent weapons as well to be able to hunt both if you have a east side tag. the kid i hunted with took the moose with a rifle and the elk with a muzzle loader.

Go for Hangman if you have a quad (or access to one).  That area is filthy with moose.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

is this to haul out the meat, or is it an access issue?
I apply for the unit, but do not have a quad, or any intention of getting one.

The only area that is accessible to the public is land owned by the Inland Empire Paper company. Which does require a $40 pass for each person in your party. They allow ATV's behind their gate in this area. If you're walking in, you'll be competing with others on ATV's and motorcycles. It's a couple miles to get in to where you'll hunt so for this area you really do want to have an ATV. Unless you have a lot of friends who are willing to come along and pack out a moose on their backs. Or, I suppose if you have a horse or mule that would be another good option.

Mt. Spokane has very limited access.  Selkirk for good access and plenty of Moose.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.
