OK all you experts out there   I need some feedback. I'm in the market for a 12 gauge O/U.  Here are the parameters:

1. Under 1800$ (1k to 1500 preferred)
2. Not really interested in Beretta or Ruger
3. 28" barrels
4. Not really interested in any Turkish guns.... CZs, etc.
5. 66% for clays / 33% for hunting
6. 1500+ rounds a year

I have used an SKB 585 12 gauge for the last 14 years.  I have never had a problem with it and it probably has 15,000 shots through it.  It is well balanced and fast.  It cleans easy, is well fitted, and has a smart design with the barrell selector on the trigger guard, and tang safety.  I would reccommend it to anyone.  I have no idea how the newer models shoot or feel or if the warranty department is any good.  I originally wanted a red label, but the factory was on strike and these had a big discount on them.  I have never regretted the purchase, especially after reading about all of the problems that have come up over the years with the red labels.

You said you don't want a ruger why not?  I have had a couple winchester 101's and a couple Browning's.  By far the one that I like the most is the one I still have and that's the ruger.  I know they are heavy but they are more slender than most O/U witch I really like.  Both the Browning's I had felt huge and light.  And that made them feel kind of cheap to me.  They are super fast, to fast if you ask me.  I would swing past target all the time with them.  As far as the 101's I still like them and they would be my second choice.  There a little heavier than a browning but I guess I like that.  I believe I read where they came out with a new 101 you might want to check it out.  I have shot some Beretta's and did not like them.

check my sig, look at the link. if you want some serious input, pm me and i'll hook you up with my stepdad. if you can find a nice superposed browning broadway or citori, grab it. i'm sure my  stepdad could probably find you a nice gun for a grand or so. 
the cynergy is apparently not a great dun for the money and if you are going to start shooting sporting clays, you will shoot 200 rounds in a day...a field gun will typically not stand up to the number of rounds a serious sporting clays shooter will shoot.

tlbradford thanks for the PM.  No need to answer the question I see it in your post. 

Bigshooter (RE: why no Ruger):  I own a Red Label 20g now.  It think it's a fine shotgun but the price on them has gotten outlandish.  I bought mine for around 800 bucks new about 7 years ago.  They're selling now is in the 1500 range.  IMO they are not near a 1500$ shotgun.  I've had a variety of small annoying issues w/ my gun.  Nothing major just things I'd expect on an 800-900$ gun but not a 1500$ one.  I've also seen (friends guns) a couple of them have some major issues.... stocks splitting, ribs falling off etc.

No mention for the Weatherby Orion?

The 2007 and earlier vintage Weatherby Orions are a great gun for the money.  They're made by SKB.  Weatherby however has, starting in 08, switched to I believe Fausti as their manufacturer.  Nice Italian gun but I'm not as impressed w/ them as the SKB.  There are some smokin deals around on the older Orions.... 900-1k NIB.

You might want to check out the older Charles Day O/U's built by Miroku in Japan during the 60's and early 70's.  Great guns and comparable to Browning superimposed grade 1's......and less money.  Miroku currently builds the Browning citoris.

Miroku has been building great guns for a long time.  I'm pretty sure they make the A-Bolt too which is 1 of my all time favorite actions.  I can't remember if they still make em but I know you can find some guns w/ their own label out there still. 

People seem to be holding on to them now.  A lot of the ones you see have been pretty well shot.
