Rare Duck
« on: June 05, 2007, 10:38:26 AM »
Would the man responsible for these pics please step forth and claim them.   I didn't take these, but have been drooling on them for over a year.  A guy from another site, a fellow washington wildlife enthusiast Cutthroat is his handle I believe, took these.  I sure wish he would join up as his photography is awesome.  Anyhow, can any of you duck enthusiasts name this bird.  They don't belong here, but several breeders, who I guess got blown off course, have made themselves known in a little area in our neck of the woods.  I was fortunate enough to see one during duck season, but unfortuantley it was in a protected zone.  It could have been this little fellow here even.  Since my camera wasn't in action, I'm stealing your pics Cut.

Don't know what they are, and never seen them before, but they sure are a pretty bird. Very good pictures, thanks for sharing

Awsome bird. I would get one mounted in a sec if I shot one. Thats one of my dream birds. My bro-inlaw had a wigeon done and it looks great, it's not a eurasion though.

This past year I was able to count 9 EW with my spotting scope across the street on a golf course. There was multiple times when there were more than one in the frame, wished I had the camara hooked up to the scope. That is the most I have seen in one spot.

I did note about 25 this year across a 3 county area. I do spend alot of time during the migrations observing waterfowl and the number of EW has been increasing in my observation each year.

One of my buddies did get one this year.

There is getting to be a breeding population in the potholes or crab creek drainage.
