Rainbow Buck!!!
« on: November 04, 2010, 06:48:21 PM »
My wife got her first buck on Sunday morning. It was a great hunt, she has taken some does with her bow, but this was her first buck and her first kill with a rifle. I made her get up at 4:30am so we could get to the gate ahead of the croud. We rode our horses into a walk in area. We made it to the 4.5 mile marker just at first light. We spotted some deer right away. A doe and a 2 point trying to get a little. She couldn't get a rest on that one, so a short time later we spot a spike. She didn't want to shoot a spike for her first deer, but i told her it was the last day of season and she should get one under her belt with a gun. She got a good rest and made a perfect 186 yd shot with her 30.06 right in the pump house, the 168 gr Barnes TSX was good medicine. The deer went 30 yds and laid down for good. I have never been so proud. The pics say it all. You can't fake a smile like that. :chuckle: :chuckle:
As we got down to the deer and gave him the poke to make sure he was down a few tears joy hit the hillside and some tears of sadness for the taking of a life. It was extra special when we looked up to see a rainbow coming out of the clouds in a sun shower. It was AWSOME!!! I snapped a few photos and we just sat for a while and enjoyed the morning is Gods Amazing Creation. My wife doesn't believe me when I tell her she is my favorite hunting partner, but its true.
