Pics of Green River Watershed Deer
« on: November 04, 2010, 07:44:54 PM »
Sorry for the delay, computer issue.  :bash: This deer wasnt the biggest taken from the Watershed but for my first deer it was a trophy in my eyes!

Cedar River taxidermy is located near the Watershed so i made a detour to check out their work. They do amazing work, so i decided to let my deer bed down their for a make over. :)

Thanks for the nice comments on my first deer. It was about time i got a deer since my wife swears there are no deer over here on the west side and that they are all over in waterville where her family gets theirs each year. I am glad that i stuck to my guns and finally made it happen and now she knows there are some over here they are just a little harder to find  :chuckle: i will try to get a few more pictures posted as soon as i can download them off my camera.

Its a 270 on a mauser action that was my moms montana and idaho gun many years ago. She has taken many nice animals with it.

A classic rifle with history, and your first deer.  It just doesn't get any better than that!

If I could get mauser actions in left hand, that's all I'd ever use.

Great buck! Always wanted to hunt the water shed.

Nice.   Beats my first blacktail (of course it also beats my best blacktail).

With only 8 total hunters, do you run into any of them during your hunt? Seems like you would have the place mostly to yourself as big as it is.

Yeah with only a few guys being able to hunt in there you don't run into each other too often.  The guys that drew the elk tags are in there at the same time with the deer tag holders and I ran into more of the elk hunters than the deer hunters. One thing that is nice is that the tag holders get to hunt it like 2 weeks before the tribal permit holders get to hunt it. They do probably get some snow to help them out a little. On a side note it was funny on our way to the evening hunt I told my brother we need to stop back to that old shack on the mountain and pick up that antique fork that was laying on the ground because that is the fork I am going to use to eat my first deer with and no more than 10 minutes after I picked up that fork and headed to my evening spot I came across my buck. Looks like this is going to be my lucky hunting fork and will come with me on my future hunts :)
