Had one of my trailcam set up on this forest service road sign post for a few days.  Got some pics of several nice bucks and a bear, but it appears this camera is having some issues as the photo quality is taking a dump.  Here's a few of the better pics.

Yes, I had quite a few last year from this location.  You probably saw them on another website.

There must be something to this because I saw a forest service post that was rubbed up here in WA. I would put a camera out on it but I think the area gets too much human traffic and I would end up with a stolen camera.

Rubs are funny that way.  My buddy had a tree in his yard just dessimated by rubs.  It was too close to houses to hunt, but he would flip on his flood lights and has seen elk and deer horning it, a bear clawing it and a couple different bobcats scratching away, coyotes pooped at the base and his dog would piss on it regularly.  Everything that walked by had to take a shot at that darn tree.  It finally rotted out and got pushed over, but its funny how animals target certain things.

The posts the USFS use are pressure treated and have a very distinct odor, a little different then creosote.  It took me several years to locate a post on an abandoned road to hang a trailcam on, was afraid of theft or vandalism on the ones on drivable roads.

Yes, all the pics are mine.  I put a camera on a post several years ago and had it mounted high above, but the road had traffic on it and I was getting pics of people looking at the post so I pulled the cam.  This is the only buck pic I got on that first experiment...

The only scent I applied to the post was a couple weeks ago when I pee'd at the base to see if they'd react to the human scent...didn't slow them down as far as I could tell.

I often do that at my cam setups and I don't notice it bothering critters. I have pics of deer, bear and yotes sniffing where I took a leak.

thats funny now you don't have to worry about pissing on your  boot!
