elk hunting in GMU 340, 4-7 hunters hunting hard on foot we managed to fill one cow tag and that was on the last Saturday....pretty slow
anyway the last Saturday mid-morning I hear what I think are elk coming and out pops this bear she is moving at a good clip and I wait for her on the other side of a large tree and put the crosshairs of .308 behind the shoulder and squeeze it rolls once and then runs straight up the hill I fire again hitting the right rear leg
the first shot double lunged her and did not need the follow up shot , the taxidermist said the leg could be repaired.
Sow alone ,small every time I look at her she gets smaller, but what she lacks in size she makes up for in color and prettiness
