Worlds Dumbest Poacher
« on: November 09, 2010, 03:46:53 PM »
My wife use to hunt waterfowl with me but due to a bad shoulder she can no longer fire a shotgun. She does however enjoy photographing wildlife and scouting for me a couple days a week. One morning last week she pulled into the parking lot of the Game Reserve on Fir Island to watch the morning flight of geese. There was another truck parked at the end of the parking lot which is common this time of year, but as the first flock of Snows came over headed into the reserve, this guy jumps out of his truck and starts shooting at the geese!!!My wife was in shock that anyone could be so stupid. Then a moment later he does it again!!!! She promply called the gamies and within five minutes the warden shows up, asks her what she saw, and proceded to go have a nice visit with the fella who was still sittin there, waiting for the the next flock to fly over the game reserve parking lot. I hope they pull his license for good. Anybody this dumb should not be allowed near a firearm!!!!

That's been a problem in that area for a while. We stay in Laconner every year and we thought we saw a guy shooting a shotgun at Swans, not geese in his pasture last year there. The only reason we didn't report it is he didn't actually hit anything while we were driving by (think he was using a .410?!?). Sure enough, same weekend the gent is busted for harvesting two swans practically within site of the highway and a couple other violations.

One of my friends who guides permit elk hunters caught a guy setting up to shoot a bear up on a hill from a parking lot at (I think) White pass.  The area was closed to bear so my friend called the Sheriff and WDFW then offered to video tape the guy's "hunt".  Luckily the bear moved behind some brush but he was still sitting in the parking lot with hid rfle aimed towards where the bear was when the Po-Lice showed up.  Kinda tough to splain yourself out of that one, being caught in the act and backed up on video tape.   :chuckle:

If he's shooting from the parking lot he is also in a safety zone.  They have moved all the markers on the public access spots on Fir Is., so no gunning from the parking lots.   :twocents:
