yeah there is even white elk. very interesting. all sorts of odd thigns can happen. I have seen a spotted deer before whtie and brown. and it wasnt a fawn it was full grown and more like holstein spotted big ol patches of white. Saw one that had white ears too. Also saw one last week that had a big ol white spot on its face. very itneresting.

with white spots here and there would be piebald.
all white with pink ears/eyes/nose would be albino.
there'a a thread or 2 on here covering all of the different coloring options.

Is there a weird name for one that is solid white but not albino just white like whats the weird name for them theres gotta be something more complicated to call them rather than to just call them white. Like black they are called melanistic to make it more complicated but im just curious what do u call a solid white non albino deer?

If it is brown with white or it it is solid white lacking the pink pigmentation if the skin, eyes, nose, etc than it is considered a piebald.
It has to be solid white with the nose, eyes, feet, and skin being pink to be considered a true Albino.
Melanistic deer are more rear that Albinos.
Their is actually a place out east. I believe it is some kinda government land which is specificly known for it's white deer. It's odd. A lot of the deer on the property are white but not true albinos.

I know in Sweden there is a species of stag that is NOW all white. Years ago the white ones were prefered by hunting clients on these private estates. It only took a few years for all the brown ones to be culled out.I always thought the dark ones were the strongest and most dominant gene, and was best for the herd

Michelle - for a couple of years while stationed on the east coast I lived on the Chesapeake Beach Naval Research Labratory, right on the Cheapeake Bay in Maryland... Interesting place, but one neat thing about it was the un-hunted herd of whitetail. There were a number of deer on base that were partially white, piebalds, and long-time residents had photos of pure white bucks from the past. Very beautiful, deer, and almost tame since they were never hunted - except for the occasional poacher who managed to sneak in I suppose.
Regards, Guy

Northwest Trek had a piebald deer in the late 80's. We used to see it on the tram rides when I was in 5th grade on field trips. Can't remember if it was doe or buck. Mostly brown, a funky kind of creamy brown, with large white spots. Sorta like a cow.

There was an aritcle about it in Outdoor Life how a kid in Lewiston shot a buck that was all black.
As for the piebalds there have been several of them taken in Md since I have been stationed at Andrews. It is legal to shoot them there is no law against shooting a piebald or albino deer.
