Do not use fast flight strings on older bows.  :bdid: Have to use a string made of dacron B50 string material. Older bows, like yours,  do not have reinforced limb tips needed to handle the extra shock from a low stretch fast flight string.

The difference in speed using fast flight and dacron strings is negligible. I have experimented with both and about 5-7 FPS differnce. I think bow shooots much quieter too with B 50 string :twocents:

What model Bear is it?

I have had real good experience with FF strings on my older bows.  I'm shooting a 60lb. bear Kodiak that is early 60's model.  Also a Wing Hunter 45lb recurve from early 70's with a FF string.  I don't know what the feet per second diff. is but I can tell a big difference in trajectory.  That said, I have a shorter draw lenght 26 inches.  So I may not be stressing the limbs enough to see any potential damage.
