Big Cat
« on: November 12, 2010, 06:21:02 PM »
My hunting buddy was elk hunting on Weds and had a cougar shadowing him. BOOM....dead Kitty. 148 pound female. Gamie is measuring her for a possible record book entry...said it is a big cat. Any of you cougar guys know just how big this is for a female?

125 pounds is a pretty big female.  148 is really large for a female.

A 148 pound female is huge.

its a very big female. the avg female is around 90-100lbs. the biggest i have ever seen with a full gut is around 160-170. cats can be a little hard to tell the sex on. another guy on here thought he had a female but it turned out to be a male. the gamie will tell when they see it and take the samples.

Gamie took teeth and measurements on Thursday. It is a female. I will get a picture from him and post it. It was up in the Carbonado area.

It had been following, shadowing for a while up the hill from them. After a while, up-hill from them got real steep. The cat started coming down towards them and in front of them. He took a knee and it walked into the trail they were on, and boom...a 30-06 at 25 yards through the lungs and heart. She flipped up and landed on her back right where she had stood...not another twitch. I guess Cats don't ALWAYS land on their feet! :chuckle:

i dont think most females will go much over 100lbs :twocents:. seen it alot where people think they shot a big female but its really a male, its kinda hard to tell the sex and most wont know unless someone shows you

Are cats balls that hard to find  :dunno:  I know young rabbits are a royal bitcch to sex but other than tiny kittens usually the balls are pretty easy to find :dunno:

Really, less than 100 pounds for an adult female?  I haven't seen a lot of them but the only ones I have seen under 100 pounds, way smaller than me at 165, were the four cubs with this one.  I would have guessed 150+ on her.  Am I way off??

I don't mean to threadjack...

that looks like a better cat, but i personally wouldnt put it at 150 though. heres a 130bs live wieght cat, im 6'3'' maybe 150 lol in the pic, but this kinda shows how big a cat like that is compared to full grown(atleast height wise) person
