So are you calling him a liar for NOT turning himself in?? He offered to show you paperwork that he did what he said he was going to do, and you didn't look it over too good..I say just drop it..There are some people out there that do make misstakes, and will confess to it..A misstake does not make one a poacher.. I'm getting sick and tired of people trying to get points off someone who just plain and simply screwed up..Try teaching them something instead of trying to screw them all the time..Hunterman(Tony)

I agree what he did needed to be turned in, but as others have said we have all made mistakes there are situations where some stern conversation could get a guy straight without getting him a 3500 dollar ticket. As for the dumped deer it should have reported as well dont know that a guy would cut the antlers off of a button buck, this was probably another *censored* altogether.
rjn cajun I suggest not making post like the one you did with out including all the facrs. That is how speculation and opinions come into play.Your first post made it seam like he really did make a mistakeand was sorry. That the guy tried showing you paper work varifying he turned himself in.Your second post made it sound lke the guy knew the regs. Knew he shot an illegal deer and didn't give a rats @ss. Lied to you that he had just checked the regs. So did the guy do this during deer season and leave with the deer? Than come back a week later and show you the paper work from the state? If he had the paper work (ticket) the gamies would have taken the deer.
