Late Buck hunt was Fun, Snowy!
« on: November 14, 2010, 08:01:56 AM »
My brother in-law did not get his deer yet this year so we took a trip up to Chewelah for the day and hunted some spots we go to when we do not fill tags during the regular season. Snow began to fall before daylight. We got in to our spot and began to watch. We heard some shooting in the distance as the snow came down harder. We did not see any deer by 9am, and we decieded to try a different area. As we were walking back, we saw a white tail flagging and bounding up threw the woods. We then found a warm bed with zero snow in it, and some fresh tracks, good size tracks with the dew claws making a mark behinde the hoof prints. Buck? we will never know, but I kinda think so. He bedded down approx 100 yards from us and we never knew he was there. Rats! We ended up seeing 5 Whitetail doe, two mule deer doe and a half rack 2pt muley buck. It was a great day, and I sure enjoyed the snow!

About what elevation was the snow at? We are headed that way on Tuesday and are hoping that there is snow where we hunt.

I turned on the gps and looked while on stand in the morning. We were at 2570', and snowing nicely. The higher you went the more accumulation. There was just a dusting down on the main road. I would guess a lot of snow melted today. Good luck hunting!
