--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just got home from 1 full day of hunting. I went over the weekend before and saw a lot of bucks but nothing I wanted to notch my tag on. This time I had from the 12th to the 20th off and was fully prepared for tag soup if I did't find a special buck.
Yesterday we took off up a drainage I had scouted the weekend before. We began seeing deer the minute we left the truck and started our ascent up the hill. The fog was thick it would lift for a half hour or so at a time and then settle back in again. We were glassing the opposite hillside and seeing bucks all over the place when the fog settled in for about an hour. We got tired of waiting and decided to still hunt the trees and see what we could find. We had already seen 13 bucks with 2 worthy of a closer look but with the fog we were out of luck on those 2. As soon as we entered the trees I crept up to the edge of the hill and looked over the side. There were 2 does looking my direction with a big bodied deer behind them. I knew he was a buck from the body size, and brought up the binoculars for a closer inspection. He was 82 yards out and I looked him over carefully before I turned and told Charles he was the one. After the shot we walked down the steep hill side down to him and were excited to find exactly what I was after. He definately didn't shrink when we got up on him . This is what we found and a few other pics.
