Late Whitetail Hunt - By the Hunts

My 15 year old shot his late whitetail today.  Interesting set of pics....

Something is just not right.  My son is dumbfounded -  I swear he had two antlers.  My first thought is that he shot his horn off.  But I also see the bullet hole right through the back of his neck and the exit in the front.  And he only shot once.  That doesn't make much sense....  The deer was heading around the hillside right as he shot -  he didnt see it go down.  So a little looking around and this is what we found.

Cant believe how much of the antler was buried in the ground.

It was his last afternoon to hunt for the year - so any legal buck was going down.  Saw a few bruisers but none worked out.  I am a proud dad.

Thanks for the comments...  It's nice when a family hunt goes well.  This was the first time the youngest one was a part of a successful hunt.
