ODFW Study: Poaching may rival legal harvests
« on: November 16, 2010, 12:53:04 PM »
NW today: Poaching may rival legal harvests
"The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife believes poachers kill as many mule deer as legal hunters."
http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2010/nov/16/nw-today-poaching-may-rival-legal-harvests/

Looked at the ODFW website and didn't see any info on the study.  May have to check back in a couple of days.
What's the most dangerous thing said in the US Navy? -- A Chief Petty Officer saying "Watch this s$%^!!"

"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.'"
President John F. Kennedy

You'd be surprised at the number of "hunters" who shoot more than one deer.

I just met a guy who openly admitted he might do just that for late deer. Said he never tagged his buck and never got checked so still has a tag he can use. First time meeting him too - and no he wasn't a gamey.

with the amount of deer/elk remains i've found throughout the year when i'm out fishing or dinking around in the woods, i'd say i wouldn't be surprised if the local hill jacks and brush pickers take more out of season than hunters do in-season.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Gets my blood boiling, thank god for gates and road closures, but it shouldn't have to be that way... :(
If you dont do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do!

I worked with a guy like that.....he got nabbed by idaho, and was bitter about it......he earned it.
