Cow down/ one less stinky foot
« on: November 15, 2010, 12:03:47 PM »
My buddy took this cow friday out behind my house while I was at work. Firearm restricted area, but the 12ga slug did it's job. He"ld been hunting all week with not much to show for it so thursday night when my local herd showed up out back I gave him a call. He showed up just as we lost shooting light, so made a plan for him to come back friday while I was working to try and get back into em. Well he did, with the help of his older brother(my archery partner) they put a sneak on em. Suburban hunting at it's finest :). This herd has a realy bad problem with hoof rot so any thinning out of these stinky footed animals is a good thing in my opinion. Obviously not in the opinion of some other local residents, which would explain why soon there after the kill seven Cowlitz Co. sherrif deputies showed up with their ar-15s drawn, but all was legit and no charges were filled   didn't even make the 5 o'clock news :P
Maybe not the most exciting hunt but a legal ethical kill, meat hanging, one less rotten hoof, and the quick dial nieghbors put in their place :IBCOOL:
Got home alittle late and missed the SWAT drama, but just in time to snap a few pics and help em get her hung and skinned.

Best part for me was a few comments we got while stopping by the minit mart in transet to bud's house to hang her. Had a woman walk up to me as I was walking out of the store and ask, " IS THAT YOUR MOOSE IN THAT TRUCK ?" I said "no it's his" pointing to my friend who was still in the store standing at the register. She than stated "THATS DISSGUSTING" and stormed off into the store :chuckle:

lol people need to mind there own business. its always  good when someone nosey gets involved only to find out there dead wrong. like when i get the police called on me for hunting "when there is no season open" oh except for bear and yote. they feel pretty stupid. its almost got to the point where you should have the regs in your pocket so you can defend your actions.

There needs to be some consequence for calling the authorities when there has been no crime committed.  javascript:void(0); Your buddy shouldn't have to defend himself for behaving in a legal, ethical, and responsible manner.

Very Nice Cow BTW!

Pretty cool....    "seven Cowlitz Co. sherrif deputies showed up with their ar-15s drawn"

Did anyone of them congratulate the shooter?

You should have asked to have them stand around the elk so you can take a picture.  Did you thank them for coming so fast?

It is their job to come running when gun shots are fired.  So you have to cut some slack.  I know if I am in a fire fight and seven deputies show up.  I would not turn them away.

Man that's a nasty case of footrot; it's a wonder she could even walk.  You should have showed that woman the "moose's" foot up close and personal and asked her if she thought if it was disgusting.

I think THE HUNT had it right... A photo of the swat guys with the elk would have been great to show the PIA neighbor!
