Yes it would be her left rear foot, the one up against the truck window. I wasn't there when the deputies showed up, but my buddy did mention a couple of them saying they haven't got their elk yet this year. I do understand them showing up in force for a shots fired call, but the callers knew that the shots were fired by a hunter, I guess they were screaming something about calling a game warden too, no game dept rep showed up however.
There is abit more to the story. My property is only 1.5 acre half of which is in hardwoods, my immediate nieghbors have the same topogrophy and are perfectly fine with me hunting there. Beyond my prop is a sewer rightaway, then that is backed by another neighborhood. My buddies tracked the elk from my property across the canyon and then spotted them standing in another yard. As they were watching the herd and waiting for something to spook them back towards them a pickup pulled up to the yard they were watching and a guy got out with shotgun in hand snuck around the house and shot a 4x4. It was his girlfriend's house and she had called him to tell him about the elk in her yard. Well that sent the herd running straight at my buddies, as they past in front of them my freind with the tag dropped the cow, and then finnished of the bull that was trailing behind the herd. It was the girlfriends neighbors who called it in. This neighborhood behind me is abit more upscale and the houses have less property, but the actual kill site was on open public PUD, property. The guy that shot the bull was rather greatful my buddy finnished it up for him, being his first elk, and called a friend of his with a tractor service to skid both animals up and load my friends cow for him.

Oh and the eye I think is due to the finnishing shot which was a rather close range head shot not realy visable in the picture.

Thanks for the closeup on the hoof rot!   A good one to take out of the herd.  Had some vegitarians over at my house last night.  I served hasbrowns with ham and gave anyone who wanted a taste of our venison sausage.  I promote what I believe!
