pics of my Malaga Bull
« on: November 18, 2010, 08:32:18 PM »
thought id share these pics of my Malaga Bull from 2004. was drawn for malaga tag that opend up january 1 2004. basically it was a damage control hunt on cherry and apple orchards just out of wenatchee. the bulls came outta the hills to the orchards and sure pissed off the orchard owners. i shot this bull 100yds off of squilchuck rd on private property. i workd all the orchard owners pretty hard to get access and only a few would grant me access( lots of orchard owners like to watch the elk ans wouldnt let me hunt unless the bulls ripped up their trees). luckily i met a guy who had a malaga cow tag and we spotted a herd of cows and he went and shot one and one day while driving threw an orchard area he spotted this bull bedded in a cherry orchard 100yds off the road. the snow was waist deep and chest deep in the ditch i crossed as u can see in the one pic of me with snow in my binos. ended up getting this bull after shooting over the back of a 350"+ bull on another piece of property. all in all had a great time it was my 1st elk and certainly not my last(its tuff going from this to "true spikes") I shot him with my 300 win mag

yeah it was VERY difficult for my dad who got drawn the year before except he got drawn for the november tag. i shot this bull 200yds from where my dad shot his bull the year b4. his was a big 6x6 that scored 330. if it wasnt for our taxidermist out of malaga who knew all the land owners neither of us would have been successful at all. definatly a special thanks to wildlife creations taxidermy out of malaga. a few of the land owners were big time hunters and didnt like "coasties" comming over to the area and harvesting the bigg bulls. we ran into one guy who was out everynight with his dogs and shot gun running the elk onto his property so we could shoot them. what a jerk

HELL YEAH Rolly is the MAN! we call him up every elk season to find out where the elk are at. he know ALOT. do u know one of his buddys named Gar? he owns a big chunk of orchards by the jump off on the wentachee side. i hunted Gar's property most of the time thats where i missed the big 6x6 and took a texas heart shot and missed at a huge 5x5.

Yeah farmers are ridicoulous. They complain and piss and moan about elk damage but wont let anyone hunt their property. They expect government hand outs and reparation money. Here's a novel idea if the damage is that bad BUILD A FENCE!!!

MY uncle is a farmer on the west side. He asks for damage control permits. He also lets people hunt on his property. And guess what HE BUILT A FENCE!!!

yep, Rolly is a good guy and does good work. Garland is also a good guy, his property is across the road from my uncles orchard. Very elky chunk of land. Whos orchard did you kill that bull in on the squilchuck? My families ranch is about a 1/2 mile below the state park. Congrats on a nice bull! Wish I could kill one, I just get to watch them every winter. :'(
