I don't want to sound like a naysayer, but I doubt you'll find much interest coming from folks that hunt there. What I'd do is call the regional biologist and talk with them. Other than that I know a couple of families in that neck of the woods and from what they tell me there is never a lack of deer. Plus if you've looked at the weather reports for different areas in Eastern Washington you'll find that the weather is favoring the deer hunter. Snow up high will probably push the deer to lower elevations.

I used to deliver well materials, septic supplies etc. and always took Boulder Pass. If I were to hunt near Curlew I'd definitely look at a map and go to that area. Then again I don't hunt in Washington anymore so this is all advice from someone that has not touched the hunting and fishing grounds of Washington in two years.

Not many deer around here even though some guys swear there is. I went out coyote hunting this morning and didn't see any deer. Saw 3 coyotes and killed one @371 yds. with my 700 BDL 223. It's snowing right now so maybe that will help. Boulder is a good place to hunt. There is allot of timber land up there that borders private land. PM me if you want more info. Glad to help out if I can.

I've got an archery tag myself. I think everybody forgets these deer have been chased for what, 2 months now. I know they're here, but, right place, right time.

Had a buddy go up by waucanda pass on the opener for rifle.  13 guys in camp, 3 does seen :bash:

I was up there in August and July and saw plenty of deer.  In August I saw over 200 head while driving around the lake and 5 3 point of betters.  Mostly does and fawns with a few young bucks.

That, or you do something nobody else that lives here knows about, seriously. Like I've said before, I hunt everyday and never see all the deer guys say they see. I hunt private property where all the deer should be. Wanna share your secrets since I see you live out of state.

We have a cabin  near Republic  We were up there during archery season like we are every year. We saw more deer than we have seen in the past 3 years this yr. Most people road hunt up there, that's the issue. Pushes the deer higher up. You need to find where they have just logged.... That's a start.

I missed a big 5x5 this year on video, saw about 8 shooter bucks mostly mulies. I have hunted up there since I was 16. There was a lack of whitetails I will admit that. On our own private property where we hunt, there were seriously no deer, so we had to find them. Ended up with a doe on the last day for meat. Every year I get a shot at a 4 point or better. Got a 4x4 whitetail the yr before last.

They are for sure in that area.

These deer dont get chased that much at all! this is huge country with very few roads in some areas, not many people hunt early whitetails up here in Sept, we saw 1 rig this year hunting sept deer. A huge majority of guys who come up here with rifles are chasing the mule deer, and I would venture to say 70% of them road hunt. I was up a few times during the rifle season and people just driving everywhere all day. Most hunters dont venture 1000 yards off the roads!!  There are tons of deer up there, just one week last week  on 1 camera I ended up with 9 different bucks passing by, my dad who is 2 mi away had 6 bucks none the same that I had. I just got back and never saw a rig or a hunter in 3 days

lol camp meat... I don't think your any of those things. Are you going out specifically hunting for deer in your area. I cant speak for the mulies but the whitey's are there. Granted the numbers aren't as high as they are in heavy agri regions or even as high as they were 5-6 years ago. I did a good bit of dog hunting this past year with a friend in areas with much higher populations and I didn't see a lot of deer either. They just don't like something about this challenge and locator calls.

Yeah, up here we don't have much it seems. But a bud of mine got a buck with over 30" spread, muley though, and other friends and guys from school are bringing in tons of trail cam pics with huge bucks. It's all a matter of finding a honey hole. I still haven't found one for whitetail, muley yes, but i need a whitetail spot. The first snow really made the deer start moving, they were everywhere, but now they've settled back down it seems. Sucks cause i'm making my arrows as I write this so I couldn't hunt that first snow... Saw a couple 3 points and lots of does. Has anyone bagged one yet this late season?
Make every shot count cause ya might not get another.

I ran into 2 guys that are from Willipa Bay today. They were up near Wauconda bow hunting. Maybe you know them. They're a couple of commercial electricians.

Just thought I'd ask. I hauled chips out of Weyco in Raymond in 1997 when I had trucks leased to Puget Sound Truck Lines. I haven't been down there since. I liked it down there except for the rain....

I seen lots of deer second weekend of early rifle season. But I also worked there all summer and had them patterned fairly well. Seen more pumpkins then anything though as usual. Scared the fur off a cougar sunday of the second weekend. just gave him too much windage for a Barnes I suess.
