Don't use wd40 to lube your triggers as it will laquer up and cause you problems. :twocents:

plus it collects dirt like a vacuum cleaner and that is where problems start. keep it clean and dry. if it gets wet and you feel like you must oil it, do so, but then blow it out with carb cleaner or lots of compressed air.

The inadvertent discharge issue with the 700 was addressed in a recall several years ago. If you have an older 700 you might check with Remington to see if it needs the safety recall mod. My 700 30-06 is 47 years old and I never had a problem with the trigger or safety.


I do not think a recall exists.  I believe that was one of the main points in the show, amongst many other points exaggerated or not.

owned and shot them for over 30 years with no problems.....bottom line is you have to use the safety between your ears.

I have two. One is a 1980 7mm mag and the other is a 1965 270. Never had a problem with either one.
