Last Day Chiwawa Buck
« on: November 20, 2010, 10:22:19 PM »
My brother took it down to the wire on his late muley hunt.  We found this guy still up pretty high about 11:30 this morning and watched the fog roll in and out for an hour and a half before he finally gave a clean broadside shot at 400yds.  DRT!  My brother made an awesome shot and he just dropped.  And that was with a fixed 4x Leupold.   :)

The snow came late but really got things moving.  Today was beautiful day to be on the mountain!

This season was pretty slow but we did look at some good bucks early on but nothing that made him want to pull the trigger.  Today was about finding something decent to hang a tag on.  He passed on a 3x that went about 22-23 and tall first thing in the morning.  Saw 2 other tag holders that filled their tags before 10 this morning.

I like that for a last minute buck, the G4's are impressive.  Was it an older deer you think?

I didn't even look at his teeth but I don't think he was an older deer.  Very large body though.  Watching him with the does and smaller buck that was hanging around he looked twice as big as they did.

Way to hang in there! The weather definitely was a gamble this year for the late rifle hunts. Nice buck.

Nice buck Congrats!! Looks like he hunted the East part of the unit. I was in the unit last weekend on the West end and there were some bruisers there.

Yes, we saw them.  Didn't get to see his buck though as they were still getting it to the jeep.

My brother said when he dropped the buck off at the meat cutter that it weighed 165lbs sans head, hide and lower legs.  Guy said it was the heaviest buck he had come in this year.

Congrats to your brother, Lowedog. Not sure how I missed this one.

The 4 quarters and the torso of my buck(rib cage, backstraps, neck, tenderloins, bones) weighted 132# and I thought my buck was enormous. 165 is effin huge!
