The mother is killing for herself and two kittens, and for any wolves in the area.  Three times last winter I witnessed 4 wolves take the deer kill away from cougars.  The wolves are good at it and the cat just has to go kill again for some thing to eat.

WOW.. That is a great pic!!  There was WDFW camera a few years ago in Ione that had 5 adult cats on a deer roadkill!

Maybe it will be a mutual destruction....

Actually it's been documented in MT and ID already, the cats come out on the short end of the deal.  Actually no contest at all.  I have seen a pack of hounds stretch a mid-sized cat without much pain for their efforts.

Those are pretty big kits, would they still be illegal [since you can still see some spots]? Id have a hard time not shooting.
