Vail?
« on: November 21, 2010, 04:43:01 PM »
How did you folks do hunting Vail this late buck?  I heard that there were several dandies shot up there and I saw a big buck coming out on the top of a Jeep yesterday.  My kid and I drove up this afternoon to talk to my buddy at the check station and get the scoop but the snow must have spooked them all off.   :chuckle:

I biked in yesterday morning.  At 11:00 AM on the way out I found a button buck 150 yards from my truck.  I normally wouldn't shoot one so young but so close to the truck....... it sure beats tag soup.   :)

After about 11 AM the whole place was pretty much empty where I was at and the snow was comin down hard! The deer were movin hard as well and I put one of my dads buds on a buck put he couldnt see him through the scope because the snow was comin down so hard and his lense kept fillin up with snow lol oh well he was excited to at least see a buck since it was the first time hes hunted deer in 2 years. Hadnt been up there in a couple years and it wasnt easy findin a mature patch of timber..cant wait for the 24th!

3x3 Blacktail I took in Vail on Saturday November 20th, 2010 at 8am off the 1060. Put my 16 year old daughter on a nice spike this morning in Vail as well but it was moving too fast for her to transition from binoculars to rifle scope to get a good shot before it made the tree line. No matter, she has her own hunting story to tell now.  :)

Vail is a great hunt. It should be open to kids and elderly so as they can enjoy a quaility hunt!!!

Saw a nice big 3 point but could not get a good ahot at it. It was walking away from me at 400 yards and disapeared in the brush. I though I found it again and sneaked in to range and when i got a good look at it, It was a F$%king doe  :bash:

O'well, thats hunting  :dunno:

But i did get to raid Yoterhunter's ice chest for the chantrells  :chuckle: :chuckle: thanks Dale, had some tonight with some antelope back straps  :EAT:
