If the SKS is in good shape and the price is right, then buy it.  The ammo "shortage" will eventually end (or at least, get better).  I've found quantities of 7.62x39 at gun shows on the east side, but prices are still fairly high though.

he bought a mountain bike from me but hasnt paid yet, and told him to keep the $100 for the bike and i would give him $100 for the sks, and he said he'd think about it. he's going to let me borrow it for a while. he has an M1 30 carbine that he let me borrow a while back which was pretty cool. i was going to buy it from him untill i found out it was his grandpa's. then i told him not to sell it. but anyway, im not sure if i should buy it, or buy somethin else. like a trail camera, which i've already posted about..

Is is Chinese, Russian or Yugo?  Either way, $200 is not a bad deal for an SKS in good-plus, serviceable condition.  They're built like a tank and not a whole lot of parts to get broken.  With all of the after-market accessories, it can be a fun project rifle.  Not the most accurate of the service rifles, but it can spit out ammo fast, quick and in a hurry.

there going for up to 600 right now which is ridiculous but you could always buy it and post it on seattle guns for 300 and make a quick 100 bucks outa the deal and buy a nicer trail cam  :twocents:

I haven't purchased production center-fire ammo in many many many years.. Does anyone know the price comparison of 7.62x39 and .223 factory ammo?
