Anyone use Bushnell 5.0 trophy cam?
« on: April 29, 2010, 09:13:04 PM »
Does anyone use a Bushnell 5.0 trophy cam? I was reading about this cam and it said it can go 6 months on 4 AA batteries or up up a year with 8 AA. I want to put the camera up in a place were I wont be able to go back and check it for a long time. I have a Cuddeback and a moultre but don't think they would last that long.

Does anyone know if they really last that long? and how is the picture quality?

I have one.  I like it. I've tested most of the others (several Moultries, Cuddyback, LeafRiver) and like it as well or better than any.

Picture quality is good, not great.  I don't know exactly how the long the batteries last; it is weather and photo quantity dependent.  I would venture to say that a year is a real stretch, but then why would you leave it for that long without checking it?  What value will you have in seeing an animal from 11 months ago?
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

So far, so good with mine. Have some pics in the trail cam section, I think they came out well.

I like mine but seem to get hundreds of pictures of nothing for every animal pic I get. With this many pictures (thousands a week) my lithium batteries lasted about 4 months. I enjoy it but still trying to figure out how to get it to trigger only on real targets.

I have one one. Its been on the field since June and  I have been checking it at lease once every three weeks. I have not change the batterry ever since.  :IBCOOL:battery saver for sure. It takes good pictures with quick trigger speed. I say its one of the best trail cam today.  :)

This is the second year with mine and it has started messing up. It basically eats batteries. I think there is a short somewhere. The six months is under certain temp/picture conditions which they probably state in small print somewhere.

I ran mine most of the summer on video mode. I started out with used batteries and they lasted all summer.

I biuld and sell some really good security boxes for the Trophy cams. send me a PM for more info.

On another note. be sure and stay away from the newer 8mp trophy cam. I have read several reviews of people having problems with them. You can still find the 5mp cams on ebay.

My biggest complaint about the 8mp cam is that the menu display is always lethargic....even in warm temperatures. Due this I am expecting the cam to die at any moment. It takes great images though.

everyone I talk to about the 8mp cam has a different issue with their cams. some small some not so small.

Chasinggame.com has a very informative review on the 8mp as well as other trail cams.

I get a kick how the sensitivity adjuster does nothing. it's a sales gimick. LOL

The 5mp cam is solid gold.
