Timing could not be worse
« on: November 26, 2010, 07:37:36 PM »
Headed to the desert for the archery deer tag on Sun. morning.  I was officiating a basketball game tonight when I felt a pop in my right calf.  Done for the night, so my wife calls the Dr. office and gets me in at the last minute.  I get there, and Dr thinks that I tore my achilies.  After checking me out, he decides that I just tore my calf muscle.  Dr prescribes a pain patch of some sort, and tells me to keep off of it.  I explain to him that it is not an option and why.  Good luck he says, you may have problems with your plans.  I sit here with the patch, ice, and my leg elevated.  I have to work tonight and tomorrow, so I will make the best of it and head to Moses Lake as planned.  I heard that you have to go slow to be a bow hunter anyhow.  Slow is all I have right now, so it might just work to my advantage.  I will keep you all updated on my hunt.

Oh no! I did something similar last summer. I was able to walk after staying off of it for three days, by wearing my cowboy boots. The heel on the boot shortened the distance between the Achilles and calf muscle.
Good luck, hope it works out for you.

I kind of did the same thing last year, broke my ankle at the MX track the week before opener. Needless to say I was in the treestand late season opener, the things we do to stay in the woods, it must drive my wife crazy. I won't clean the gutters because I have a headache, but I'm in the woods with a broken ankle.  :dunno:
