My 25-06 usually blows holes the size of....  :yike: .....Well, lets just say it blows holes...big ones. Not an ideal fur gun.

If it's loaded with the right bullet its works well for yotes.

I've put a good bit of time into this very problem. 85 nosler ballistic tips put a big hole. 90 Sierra BTHP (no surprise at all) put a BIG HOLE. OK, so how about a deer load? 117 Sierra game king? Big hole. OK, what if you shoot a bullet that's just not made for expansion? Like, say, a 100 Sierra match bullet. Not only won't it expand, but it's got a nice BC, and will do even better in wind than my go to, which is the 85 Nosler. Sound good? Sounded good to me. VERY ACCURATE, but.... It does one of two things. Either goes through them, puts them down for 45 seconds then they get up and run off to die later (bad) OR.... it hits say a shoulder blade and original problem's back BIG HOLE. I guess the answer is that I have not found a definitively good pelt load for my quarter bore. I absolutely LOVE my .25-06, but it is only a good pelt rifle when I get some luck. The attached picture is from a 100 Sierra match from a 350yd cross canyon quartering away shot that hit the shoulder blade on exit. Seemed like a perfect shot, he was DRT, but when I flipped him over...... :yike:

I have killed a good pile of dogs with my 25-06 and 257roys using 100tsx's and exit wounds are similar to 22-250 vamint loads. A 243 with b tips can be hell on hides......its all about the bullet when you are going that fast.

I would look at the 110 accubond for it. The should hold together but will open up to kill them. The accubonds I shot arnt to bad on yote for it being a 225gr one. I know my 243 is pretty nasty most of the time. The 55gr bt wasn't to bad up close (no exit) but it seems to be about placement or it can be nasty

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

Not very fur friendly for sure. I shot lots of yotes with mine. It also took plenty of deer for family and friends. I like 100g partitions or 110g accubonds. I always ran the b-tips for yotes and they blow some big holes in pelts.

A .250 Savage would be an option.  The parent case of the .22-250 and not much different than a .243 Win.
