washing bird question
« on: December 13, 2010, 09:56:30 AM »
When washing birds for mounting, do long tail feathers get damages drying or are they good to go? I never did a pheasant and washed it. My process is wash/toss in saw dust in dryer on cool, blow dry. Will the tail get ruined?
Thanks

Pjb3:
I have been removing the tail and mounting it separately for years. Actually I cant remember ever mounting a pheasant without removing the tail. Skin the tail all the way to the oil glands then remove it completely. flesh, wash and blowdry. mount as you would a turkey tail and your all set.
Good Luck
