Colville River- 2nd Deer Tag- Got Property?
« on: November 27, 2010, 09:56:38 PM »
My fiance and I have Doe tags for this deer unit near Colville.  Majority of this area is private property only.  Do you, or someone you know have property in this area?  We are looking for property to harvest  whitetail doe.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

You should have no problem finding public land and even easier, does.

The Colville River area is Deer Area 1035, which is the 395 corridor from just south of Chewelah up to Colville. It appears as most of the huntable land would be on the westside of 395.

But that would require the dreaded four letter word w-o-r-k.

Nice to see that you have labeled them as too lazy to do the w-o-r-k to find public land.  There isn't much there to find bud.  And some of the public land is gated making one think it isn't open.  Don't be such a %%%%.

I hunt this area in the spring for turkeys and there isnt any public land that I am aware of in the Deer Area 1035 as described in the game regs.  The purpose of this forum is for hunters to help hunters, so for you to assume that someone is to lazy to do the work is bs.

From the post is is easy to "ass-ume" that they have not even tried knocking on doors for private access or looking at maps to find public land.  It seems that they are looking for a hand out that is why all the backlash.  If what I stated is the case then yes, it is lazy!  There was a lot left out of the picture in the original post.

i think that in the game laws it states that this area is private property and not to apply if you cant secure access. same as spokane south deer area. i would think that some door knocking would award access to a spot to shoot a doe. just drive until you see deer and ask if you can shoot it.

Comes up on here often when people on the day of hunting season ask for hunting info. Have had  at least six months to prepare for season right? Of course did the research before putting in for tag? Am I wrong?  If someone came up to you opening day and asked where are the deer after you spent 100's of dollars in gas money, camping, hotels, many hours scouting, driving, reviewing maps, talking to people, knocking on doors, getting turned down, yelled at etc etc... searching on Hunt WA, WDFW web site, talking to game biologists what would your response be? This a first post too. There are limited opportunities hunting in WA and it does require at least a little ( at least a five minute search on the internet) before asking. Maybe a call to the local game office? I have turkey hunted in that area and there is public land with does. Take a day go to the local WDFW Office, talk to them and bring some maps. Sounds pretty difficult doesn't it?  Did this person offer to reciprocate?

FYI not an ass as I have helped many, many people on here with hunting and fishing  and shed spots. If the poster came back on here and stated she did research talked to people, at least made a phone call to WDFW, looked at maps and offered specifics would be more than willing to help. See no follow-up post though :dunno:Can't tolerate the handout mentality in the US but that is just my humble opinion.  :twocents:

Those who disagree more than welcome to take stranger(s) to your hunting and fishing honey holes next year

I understand where you are coming from in regards to researching an area, but I don't feel the same rules apply when it comes to a damage hunt. Maybe im wrong but I thought the locals wanted some of those does thinned out?? Real good chance one of them are on here or someone here knows a land owner that wants some does removed. Im not taking anyone to my elk spots but would not hesitate to help someone on a doe hunt like this.

I apologize for saying don't be a @@@%. Wasn't called for.

My maps show Deer 1035 as 100% private.

If it was me I know I would have secured permission to hunt in that area by Nov. 27th......the date of the original post. Lots of time between finding out what and where you were drawn for and Nov. 27th. Best of luck to them........although I think they waited to long to find a place to go.

She didn't specify that they were hunting 1035 in the original post just that it was around Colville.

I didn't mean to pick on you.  Sorry if it sounded that way.  I can see how it could have been confusing.  Anyway, now we know it's 1035 and that is all private.
