Looking for bird hunt for son
« on: November 28, 2010, 10:12:38 PM »
My son passed hunter education last year.  I've taken him on a few hunts with me: grouse, deer, and waterfowl.  He's had a good time but has not fired a shot yet. I'd like to find a place to bird hunt with him where he will get some shooting.  I've considered some of the game farms where birds are released.  I know that it's not like the real thing but I think it might be a good opportunity for him.  We live in the Issaquah area.

Do you have any suggestions?
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

There is a waterfowl area now available in Sequim.  WDFW acquired it this year and put up a parking lot access.  It is close to the mouth of the Dungeness River.  It may be a haul from your area.  I hear quite a bit of shooting from that direction in the mornings.  Only place I can think of in my area.

Bob, how old is your son?  I have some extra pheasant left, and now that the west side release sites have closed we can use them for training again.  I too am a hunter education instructor, and I would really enjoy takeing you and your son out for a "canned" hunt during the christmas break. I'm thinking of Scatter Creek. :dunno:

Well, I don't know the wet side very good, but if you're willing to drive to the dry side I could PM you a couple of spots you would at least for sure get quail. About this time of year we practically stepping on them before the jump. My three kids had a great time today.
