I have only ever shot one other buck that big, in fact I think it was just a little bit wider then that one and my dad made me cut the antlers off and hang them in the shed, he said that we would get too much publicity if we ever showed anyone so they just got eaten by the mice and chimpmunks that came into the shed.

I don't think we even took any pictures cause he said that I would get accused of photoshoping the antlers bigger anyway  :bash:

Now I wished I had taken at least one picture since now I can't even prove my own story but what do you do  I guess you live and learn !!  :chuckle:  :chuckle:

Hey PascoKid,

I pretty sure that's the buck. Good friend of mine, who is a policeman, and works with the hunter, told me the story and showed me the picture. Very questionable deal that went down. Good news is that a relatively short time later, he was told that he could go claim his buck at the taxi. Definate hog there, was shot down around Patterson.

Looking at that picture I can tell he's about 200 yards from the river, approximately 1.5 to 2 miles from where you can legally hunt (unless you draw a muzzy permit). The open field where the picture was taken is usually full of deer that are damn near tame.

I've heard a few stories on this and I understand he got to keep the deer. How does that work? I know that he shot it right where the picture is taken, I found an arrow down there a month after it was shot almost exactly where he's sitting in the picture( which happens to be where the bucks are usually standing posing for photos 20yds from the road.

I guess I don't know the whole story but what I've heard makes me mad.

I don't know the complete story either, but you have to assume that if he got the deer back he was in the right.
