finally got a tree stand

Hey guys thanks for all the advice on tree stands,  I finally pulled the trigger on a summit viper,  cabelas is selling them for 199.00 right now can't beat that!  can't wait till I get home to try it out!

Congrats on the treestand, just want to give a friendly reminder always wear a safety harness. I have a very close friend back in New York that has been hunting out of treestands for the past 35 years. He shot a real nice 4x4 the other day, when he shot it knocked him off balance. He fell approx 40 feet to the ground, he is as of right now on his third back operation for this, they are trying to fuse everything together.

   you know how it is, I am almost done with this deployment, then 3 mos after I get home I head out for another 270 days in Kosovo so I have a little spending money.   .   Joe,  I uhh don't like heights very much so I strap up like there is no tomorrow...

i wish they would deploy me again. the quickie to israel was cool but it put me at the bottom of the list.  I usually dont have an urge to go but this snow augmentee crap sucks.

I have the same stand and have had some nice sits with it. Another suggestion: That strap, the one in your crotch, cinch that baby up tight. If you do fall and it is not snug you could crush your boys if it slips.

Another tip.....keep a screw in step in your pocket (I use the HSS Vest, I put a wood plug over the sharp end and kept the step in a zippered bottom pocket).  That way if you fall you have the ability to take the pressure off things.

Good tip. I've got another. Trying to screw in a bow holder can be a real sum' *itch. Get yourself a little hand held "T" auger for drilling pilot holes. Putting a lot of pressure on the tree can be dangerous while trying to screw in your bow/gear/gun holder.

I almost fell out of one once... always weare a harness now... I 've rifle& bow hunted out of mine.. Very comfortable.. Mine has the bar across the front and that has affected my ability to shoot out of it quietly... almost wish i got the "Archey" open front model.... Wrap all the exposed areas with rubber truck tube so that you don't get any metalic clang noises... still need to do that to mine..

never came close to falling out with the tree lounce, but it sure was aweful hard to stay awake sometimes

The Tree Lounge rocked.  I slept more than I hunted however.  Sold it a few years ago as it was just so heavy.  Heard they have a lighter version since.
