Any Opinions?
« on: November 30, 2010, 06:20:01 PM »
So since everyone is out of the nile, will elk be moving more or be calm? I didn't see a elk or tracks crossing the general area where I've been seeing em but then again it was snowing. Any thoughts?

Hey, there moving, we seen plenty of track this morning crossing the road before sunrise. From the Blue forest to Lindsey Camp. Seen more sign up high then down low the last 2 days, just could not close the distance for a shot.
And for the ones crossing the road, they are on the move and I mean with all teh road hunters, I mean on the move, Trust me I know  :bash:

We parked where the 1600 and 1606 meet and waled up up the road. There is a clear cut they have been using just above there and have been bedding right along teh road up there, but remember, the snow was 2 feet deep and you don;t want to get stck up there  :bdid:   Not many people traveling that high to help if you get in to trouble.

Gasman,

How much snow has fallen around there since Sunday?  I was hunting around Swamp Creek and I know the elk were traveling around there last week.  That is a little lower than where 1600 & 1606 meet.
Expect excellence, but don't require it!

There was atleast 2 feet of snow on Tuesday morning when we were there.

We were up around Swamp Creek on Sunday and did not see any track heading any place. We did talk with a guy that was camped neer the ridge and they saw 1 cow on Saturday and big bull on Friday. They were thinking of moving camp when we talked to them. A couple of the guys tryied different areas to look for improved hunting areas over Swamp Creek  :dunno:

You Know, We sure did see a lot of people and rigs parked in the Blue Forest hunting. Though it was kinda out of the ordinary for people to be hunting it, for this is the first time I have seen people in there, most time they just park at the end of teh Blue Forest and hike up, but this year they were hunting and parking right in front of the gates and walking behind teh signs that clearly say "KEEP OUT".

Blue Forest if you are talking about the Nile Creek ranch property I threw 2 guys out of there this past weekend.  No permit,  just trespassing.  No parking at the gates!  As of Saturday there was only 6 permits to be on the ranch,  and even with the permits you are not allowed to park at any of the gates.

Hell, we seen 3 rigs parked at one gate on Saturday and guys walking oin and out every time we drove by. There was even a guy in a truck with a orange vest sitting waiting for some thing to cross the road  :bdid:

Whats with having a permit to hunt it, I have never heard of that  :dunno:

The guy with the orange vest was waiting for one of the guys with permits to come out.  He should have been on the other side of the road,  was he in a white F150?  You can stop at the gate to unload or drop off people but that is it.
