I was curious how many bands you guys have on your lanyards? I have ZERO but I have seen a few people with there lanyards loaded with bands. So Let's see your Lanyards with some bling on it.

I have 4 bands. That = to 1 band for every 500 ducks.

I got 2 bands from the columbia and 2 bands from here at home.

still none for me this year and I've had to listen to my 11 year old remind me after every hunt...

He added another around Halloween to give him 3 for the year.

I'm pretty sure I'm somewhere between him and h20 on my lanyard.

Three for me. Double banded hen with reward band from Alberta and a greenhead from Grandview. I got them out of the same flock.

So I don't hunt duck or geese....whats a reward band? I know what bands are just never heard of a reward band.

Having never shot a banded bird the nearest i can gather is that. they band birds. if they catch the same one twice they put a band on it with a reward amount. i think its to keep insentive for reporting them so they can track the birds. i believe the come off in 25,50, or 100 dollar amounts. this is just what ive heard.

Close Chester, but it doesn't have anything to do with a bird being captured more than once. A reward band is just an incentive like you said, to get the shooter to report the info. Some banding operations will put a reward band on every other adult bird they capture while others may just do it randomly. But, it is always a mature, adult bird.

If you guys ever want to learn more about banding, Tracy Hames with the Yakama Nation Wildlife Dept is always accepting volunteers to help with his duck banding in July and Aug around Toppenish. Bring waders, water and lots of bug spray! But it can be a really fun activity for parents and kids alike.

I've hunted for three years and have got four banded drake mallards, one had a reward band for fifty bucks, so five bands total.

No beating around the bush here Jon, how many ya hanging? I picked up #36 for the lanyard today.

A great way to stack up the bands is to focus on mallards, after Halloween I shoot only mallards and pintails, passing on lots of teal, widgeons, divers, those arent ducks to me anyway. Even if mallards werent banded I still wouldnt shoot anything else.

I have 2 one duck one goose. On the average that is one band for every 1800 ducks and 205 geese, roughly.

'0' in over 25 years duck/goose hunting and over 1000 ducks and quite a few geese to my credit.
I do think the odds are in my favor now though, LOL.

One duck band for me. Probablly around one band for 300 ducks total. It was banded when mature five and a half years earlier in Mirror Lake, Alberta. A buddy shot another banded mallard in the same field earlier that week, also from AB.
