The possibility of big bucks sounds nice but to me a Quality hunt doesn't have a bunch of people around me. I know it breaks your heart but I won't be applying for that hunt. Good job on sticking with your goals, no sense in killing something you wouldn't be proud of.

My late 2010 muzzy mission tag came to close . I ate the tag at my choice . Saw alot of small bucks  ; it seemed a few of the bigger bucks were low and the few that were there had people all over them watching. i passed several mid 20`s bucks . I set my goals and stuck to it . i already have 4 bucks in the 25-27 inch range a wanted somthing a little better and around 170 inches i have a archery buck that scores 171 so i set my goal and stuck to it. The only un-sportsman situtaion i ran into was some of the 15 or so guys helping the gentleman that shot the 31" buck  pulled right up were we were glassing and got out making noise throwing spoting scopes on the hood of the truck and making noise , dont know if it was on purpose or not but after talking to some of the other guys that were helping him as well i was told there were all out driving around glassing and trying to find the biggiest buck they could for him , great freinds but give some of the rest of us the chance. I figured 'Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained on passing lesser bucks . I will put in for this tag again , i also met some really nice people in wanatchee , its not if you can shoot a buck in this unit but what your willing to hold out for.

yea , seems like TEAM hunting is the new thing now . Since when does it take a team and why would you  :dunno:

I can understand doing everything you can to try and get the best buck possible but c'mon guys?  If someone is already set up why ruin their hunt?  Every year I see some ridiculous actions in the Mission Unit.  I have had guys looking at bucks from our driveway and weren't even inclined to get the hell out of our way until I asked.  I was polite but it really burns me.  Why do people think that drawing a quality tag gives them the right to trespass and such?  Pretty damn sad some of the things that go on in my opinion.

Yeah I am not all about the Mossback style of having 15 guys out driving around with cell phones and video cameras. You think when you draw a late tag, its you and the rest of the tag holders. I ran into just as many guys with cameras on my hunt as I did other hunters. It kind of sucks, but what can you do. Its a free country and as long as they are not hunting I don't see any possible way the game department will be able to enforce anything or make any legal changes. Nice job sticking with it and searching for your goal even though you didn't bring anything home.

Unfortunately it seems to be getting that way.  Meaning a lot of people trying to shoot the biggest one on the mountain and that may mean rounding up a posse to do so.  I always try and shoot the biggest one on the mountain but never do.  I just like the experience.  It would be too hard to regulate anything like this and I highly doubt WDFW will ever do anything like it.  It's taking away to much.  I just know that when i harvest that nice buck alone or with a friend it would mean a lot more and probably have a lot better story to tell than someone who shoots a 30 incher with the aid of 15 other people.  Not much fun if you ask me.

The "quality" hunts should be just that.  Quality all around, not just the opportunity you have to harvest a quality deer but the opportunity to just have fun and have a quality hunt without tons of people out for lack of better words, "harassing" the deer. But, we as hunters have no right to argue with other outdoor enthusiasts who want to photograph or just look at deer, we aren't some sacred group that has exclusive rights to the forest.

In summary....I agree this "group" hunting is a joke.

I hesitate to remove topics.  Here is why.  I think people need to take responsibility for what they post.  Its sort of like posting bad feedback on ebay etc.   If you don't stand up and belive what you post then you shouldn't post it.  Truth will win out.  Sometimes it might have been the heat of the moment or a misunderstanding.  You are only as good as your rep on here.    Second, good members take the time to read, and often contribute to a post, such as the good folks have with this one with additional photos.  Without folks doing this then this board wouldn't be very much fun.

Bottom line, if you start something on here figure its permanent record for all to see.

As for hate mails.   Best thing to do is hide you email I suppose.  Which some of "yours" are.   Second if there are threats coming from members via pm and you have asked them to stop and they continue, that persons membership will be shortlived on here.  We are a family and we will take care of our own.  Dad says knock it off.  KNOCK IT OFF.

No need to air out dirty laundry here.  You guys should fix things offline.  Probably just a misunderstanding.

There was nothing wrong with the post other than what i dealt with i never came right out and said it was them only repeated what was said . I think its awsome that he killed a buck like that and i congradulated him on it , it was others that took it to far . The people that were out there looking were the ones that said it not me just repeating it . I enjoyed the people i met over there and the people that gave me input on the hunt . I dont know who the guys were or do i care anymore the hunts over i passed great bucks and will put in again and i will maybe draw the tag again,  this time maybe i will ask  Mr.Erdmanns advice on were to start. I also never talked down the Solo Hunters tv show other than what was past on to me by people glassing were all the big bucks were. A 31" buck in Washington state is a true trophy there not everywhere.  I think as Hunters we need to all stand with each other and truely read each post thru for what it is before we judge. For those who stuck by me thank you for those who ripped me i have no hard feelings its all about the game and the quality of the hunt .

This Jason... and I posted the 31" buck post to make sure everyone knew it was not my brother pulling those shinanigans:) It is crazy how my brother hears everyday how many people were spotting for him. He doesn't even know half their names. I truely believe this was a misunderdanding. Somebody saying, "Ya I am helping Derek!" As far as parking in driveways they were together. This is why I know whoever you ran into that was helping him was NOT helping him. I too like you want to make sure that when things are directed at me everyone has the true story. I believe this happened to you, but it was not by my brother or two friends hunting with him.

I wish you would have had a better hunt. It is always frustrating when you wait that long for a tag and have a bad experience. Or just a bad experience in general. I hope i see you in the woods at some point becasue there are no hard feelings here. You will never see me write anything bad about you are anyone. We need to ban togehter as a hunting community to make sure people who are being unethical do not ruin it for the rest of us.

Let me know if i can do anything for you in the future. I always like to help true sportsmen.

There were 17 tags given out so many of the other rigs you saw could have been other hunters.  :dunno:

Sorry to hear you had a rough go at it but thats hunting sometimes. Sounds like a misunderstaning about Derek thats all.
