Lake Stevens this weekend, any tips?
«

So, thinking that I need to take the boy out on the lake to goof off for the morning. I'm thinking of slow trolling spinners and wedding rings. Any suggestions?

Heard they're getting a few bright kokanee out of there too - I'd rig one rod up with a worm for the trout, and one with a pink smile blade wedding ring with shoepeg corn for the kokes. If it's bright out, you'll need downriggers for the kokes.
If they aren't biting, go after the perch. They should be schooled up deep (I'd guess 60' or so), but are a blast when you get on them. Vertical jig them with a dropshot rig or leadhead jig. There are some biggun's in there.

Bring your scatter gun.
Lots of ducks there.
Just kidding.
I'm not much help, but the few I have caught have been on wedding rings tipped with worms slow trolled on the East side of the lake using a deep 6.
Good luck.

How deep do you think you were fishing. I've got riggers and have used my little trout rods all the way down to 150 fishing for humpys in the salt.

I haven't hit them yet this fall/winter, but I heard that they were getting the kokes 20-60 feet down in 100+ FOW east of the aereator. Now that I'm not going ice fishing this weekend, I may try them out on Saturday.

If you happen to be out Sunday and see a 18 North River trolling around feel free to say hello.

My buddy runs rotten chum guide service. He guides lakes Stevens, I'm sure if you gave him a call he would give you some good info.

Your buddy John you mean. We used to be neighbors. Taught him everything he knows. Ask him about his buddy in Lake Stevens and the deer heart.

Good to meet you H20 -
How'd you an' your boy do? We couldn't find the bigger perch this time out - just a lot of dinks.

Pretty damn good I'd say. We did some laps and made some waves. Ate an apple fritter, trolled for about 45 minutes, then did more laps. They boy did well steering and enjoyed the time. No fish but a success. Next time I'll get some worms and tip a jig. He doesn't care if they are dinks and I just like getting the boat out. Nice meeing you as well.
