Looks like you got it down right. I've never used salt on any of mine, always used Borax, but I'm sure it will work just as well. Change it out every 4 or 5 days and keep doing it until the meat is good and hard. Scrape it down a couple time in between and you should be fine.

Ummm.....NO SALT.  Put borax on the skin.  Salt will draw the moisture out of the tail.  It will also draw moisture back in when the himidity changes.

The bondo adds a bit more stability to the tail.

Forgot to say you can preserve the head but it's like $100+ dollars.  If your gonna do that might as well do a brest mount with the head breast and tail.  They wook real good.

Thanks for that! I have borax on it now. I just pinned the feathers do I need to pin down the base of the fan or just leave it alone?
